The Kaneland team had a second squad competing on Saturday, this time at Lakes High School, who volunteered to host Antioch’s Harland Invite after rains washed out portions of the course in Wisconsin.
Austin Adams and Daniel Occhipinti teamed up once again to put two runners among the top 5. Adams finished third, in 14:53, which Occhipinti came in 5th at 15:05 on the 2.91 mile course around the schools.
Isaiah Dallal (15:35) and Ethan Walker (15:41) also paired up through the course, surging through the final mile to earn 13th and 15th respectively. This gave the Knights four scorers in the top 15.
Getting a solid race from our fifth scoring spot became a group effort with Ethan Neal leading the pack through the turns and mud. A late push by Nolan Allen grabbed the 27th medal finish (16:18) followed by Parker Malone (31st, 16:21) and Neal (33rd, 16:28).
This was Kaneland’s first trip to Antioch, and the team really appreciated both the hospitality of the meet, as well as the strong teams from the northeastern corner of the state.
