After falling behind 7-0 to start the game, the sophomore girls used strong defense and rebounding to defeat Sycamore on Tuesday night. Turnover woes (10) contributed to a 17-11 deficit at half-time but a concentrated effort to deny Sycamore’s screening game held the Spartans to zero baskets in the 2nd half as the Knights outscored them 9-3 in the 3rd frame to tie the game at 20-20. Taylor Carlson scored eight 4th quarter points as the Knights only allowed points at the free throw line. All of Sycamore’s twelve 2nd half points came at the free throw line. Carlson added to her 15 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Sarah Elliott had a nice game with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Olivia Sheehan came off the bench and contributed 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Ahmaya Johson provided a spark off the bench with great on-ball defense. The Knights are scheduled to battle LaSalle-Peru at 4:30 on Saturday, depending on the weather. Stay tuned to the KHS Athletics website.
