With Sophie Mullins leading the way, the Sophomore Girls concluded a very successful season with a decisive win over LaSalle-Peru, 41-22. Mullins scored a career-best 11 points and added 4 rebounds to pace the complete team effort. After an opening quarter that saw Kaneland leading 10-9, and with the bench reinforcements garnering a majority of the playing time the final 3 frames, the Knights outscored LSP 31-13 to finish off a 19 Win – 5 Loss season. Playing only 3 minutes of the second half, Taylor Carlson led the starters with 8 points, while Lexie Johnson added 7 points (two 3-pointers) off the bench. Mya Saltijeral added 5 points, all in the first half, and Sarah Elliott added 4 points and 2 rebounds. Nora Crimmins had another nice floor game with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 points. Payton Pedersen had a season-high 6 rebounds and threw in 2 points while Hailey Zimmerman also added a season-high 3 rebounds and one of the teams’s 8 assists. While finishing 19 & 5 overall, the Soph Lady Knights also won the NB12’s East Division with a 7 & 1 record with the only loss being an overtime loss to Yorkville in early January.
