On a Saturday where the team split the squad for the first time in history, a new brand of Knights stepped up to push Kaneland’s total in Freeport. Led by Aaron Lodwig and Seth Nosek, the Knight varsity crew placed fourth overall in the Pretzel Invitational. Nosek finished 13th overall, with Lodwig next at 14. Sophomore Christian Phillips took the next scoring spot when he finished 28th at 18:00. Sophomore Logan Cunz bypassed an award at the lower level in order to help his varsity teammates and wound up 33rd at 18:17. Final scorer for the Knights was Christopher Fountain who raced across the finish line in 38th overall, at 18:26. Pusher Charles Fitts, in his first race of the season, was next to the line three seconds later. Final Knight Pusher was Brady Johnson, who despite being sick, managed a season’s best mile pace for his race and finished in the top half of all performers.
At the frosh soph level, the Knights were led to third place overall behind a 4th place effort from Trevor Neal, and great pack running from Bruhl, Smith, Lechocki, and Fiedler, who were all :22 apart.
