Algrim Collects Five Hits As Kaneland Knights JV Defeats DeKalb
Grace Algrim did the opposing team no favors on Tuesday, picking up five hits over five at bats and leading Kaneland Knights JV to a 14-7 win over DeKalb. Algrim singled in the first, singled in the third, tripled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and homered in the seventh.
Bats blistered as Kaneland Knights JV collected 20 hits and DeKalb tallied 13 in the high-scoring game.
Kaneland opened up scoring in the first inning, scoring one run when Jeanie Ramos singled.
The Knights tallied five runs in the third inning. The rally was led by singles by Rachael Hendricks and Ramos, an error on a ball put in play by Delaney Douglas, and a double by Kellie Fabbri.
DeKalb scored three runs in the fourth inning. DeKalb’s big inning was driven by a single by #25 and an error on a ball put in play by #6.
Algrim earned the victory in the circle for Kaneland. She lasted three innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out five and walking one. Sarah Elliott threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Kaneland collected 20 hits on the day. Algrim, Ramos, Fabbri, Hendricks, and Douglas all managed multiple hits. Algrim led Kaneland with five hits in five at bats.
