Hendricks’s Walk-Off Gives Kaneland Knights JV Victory Over Sterling
It came down to the wire on Thursday, with Kaneland Knights JV taking victory on a dramatic walk-off error in the late innings that sealed their victory over Sterling. The game was tied at two with Kaneland batting in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored one run for the Knights.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Grace Algrim struck out nine, while #22 sat down 12.
Kaneland evened things up at two in the bottom of the sixth inning when Abby Latka tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Algrim was the winning pitcher for Kaneland Knights JV. She lasted eight innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out nine.
Kaneland scattered nine hits in the game. Kellie Fabbri and Abby Latka each had multiple hits. Fabbri led the team with three hits in four at bats.
Kaneland was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sarah Elliott had the most chances in the field with ten.
