Despite a 5-run deficit in the second inning, Kaneland Knights JV almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-8 to Geneseo on Tuesday. Kaneland Knights JV put up seven runs in the comeback effort. Jeanie Ramos, Ronnie Latka, Kellie Fabbri, Rachael Hendricks, Linzey Castello, and Latka fueled the rally with RBIs.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Knights tied things up at seven when Castello singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Kaneland put up three runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by a walk by Hendricks and a double by Fabbri.
Ramos was in the pitcher’s circle for Kaneland Knights JV. She went six innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one. Grace Algrim threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Kaneland scattered seven hits in the game. Sarah Elliott and Fabbri all had multiple hits for the Knights. Fabbri and Elliott each collected two hits to lead the team.
