Kaneland’s pack traveled to Morris to finish off the Interstate 8 dual meet season schedule that they were slated to open with back in August. Due to heat in the summer, the race was postponed to Saturday, but the cooler temperatures were much preferred by the competing teams. Kaneland saw a 35-second pack split for their scoring runners as the surge to finalize roster spots for the post season began. Isaiah Dallal covered the course in 16:01 for the individual win. Parker Malone ran a 24 second course PR to finish second at 16:14. Nolan Allen also raced to a :13 course PR to finish third at 16:23. Logan Cunz was next to the finish, in 4th, at 16:30. Christian Phillips net a top 5 finish with a PR time of 16:35. Sophomore Brady Babka was next in the chute, running 6th with a time of 16:56. Final finishers for scoring battled all the way to the finish line. Charles Fitts just out-leaned Christopher Fountain for the nod at 17:01.
The 12-0 record for the dual meet season ties a program record, established by the 2002 team that also managed a spotless campaign. During this run, the Knights faced conference foes as well as four wins against teams that had finished in the Top 10 in Class 2A during the 2019 season. The credit is truly shared by all of the seniors who led this team in an unprecedented time during a pandemic filled with daily uncertainty.
Next up, the Knights head to Sycamore for the Interstate 8 Conference Championships on Saturday. The varsity runners are set to compete at 9am on the Sycamore HS campus. Frosh soph and open races will follow, that morning.
