Missing some key fr/so athletes that were up on the Varsity team, the rest of our Fr/So team didn’t skip a beat, stepped up, and showed just how deep and how bright our future is!
In the Long Jump, Corey Phillips took 2nd overall with 19’2.5 and scoring 8 team points! Brady Johnson secured 6 team points with his 3rd place finish in the triple jump, with a new PR of 37’10! Aidan Gatz PR’d in the pole vault with 11’6 to take 2nd place and Ryan Rinella vaulted 11’0 to take 4th overall! The 4×800 team featured 2 members who had NEVER run an 800 before. The team of Lucas Pehl, Sean Gannon, Markus Suggs, and Ade Sanni ran a tremendous race, taking 8th overall. They stepped up when called upon and ran hard for the team! Freshmen Corey Phillips and Lucas Bass took 3rd and 5th overall in the 100m dash running 11.88 and 12.06, scoring 8 more team points! Logan Cunz had a nice PR in the 800 running 2:16! A good learning moment for these 4 as they ran a tremendous race! Cole “McMuffin” absolutely dominated the 400, rec-speccing his way to a 1st place 53.42 finish and 10 team points! Cole came back and led off our Varsity 4×400 later on! In the 300m IH, Jai Sekhon PR’d for the 5th meet in a row running 46.32 and taking 3rd overall, scoring 6 team points! The 1600 was an awesome battle, with Aaron Lodwig taking the win in 4:44 and Nolan Allen PR’ing, again, with 4:49 to take 3rd, scoring 16 total team points! In the 200, Corey Phillips took 2nd overall with 24.02 and Lucas Bass took 5th in 25.04, scoring 10 total team points! Our 4×400 team of Angel Valenciano, Logan Cunz, Jai Sekhon, and Nolan Rank took 4th overall to secure 4 more team points.
The Fr/So team came into the meet seeded to score 81 points and ended up with 104! We outscored and outplaced our seeds because these boys competed for each other in every event. I am so excited for the future because the boys have not only bought into the OGT mindset, they live it. Big things are already happening for this team and it’s only going to get better!
