The shots were crisp and clean on the courts on September 11th, but it was just short of enough for the girls JV Tennis Team to beat Sycamore High School. The Lady Knights put up a valiant effort and played matches that they should be very proud of. In first singles, Maddy Rizzuto played through an injury in a match with strategic rallies and powerful serves, but she fell to her opponent, Ella Sharp 6-4, 0-6, followed by a hard-fought tiebreaker, 6-10. In second singles, Brenna Sheehan made use of the entire court in her match against Harmony Klassen where she lost 1-6, 1-6. In first doubles, Sarah Schimmel and Jenna Lin looked for every opening in their opponents game and won against Brooke Swanson and Megan McConnaghy 6-3, 6-3. In second doubles, Mia Bergman and Delaney Douglas utilized their powerful shots and great communication in their win against Maire O’Brien and Stacia Wolfe, 6-4, 7-5. In third doubles, Ashlyn Hain and Hannah Wootton used great strategies and shots against Emma Hardin and Abby England, but they fell short at 6-4, 6-1. In the exhibition matches, Jenna Mauthe and Taylor Hames fell to their opponents Liv King and Jordan Bloch 0-8. Rileigh Williams and Gabby Parker played all the way to a tiebreaker but lost to Sophia Binder and Kenzie Probmo 3-7. It was an incredibly hard-fought match with great sportsmanship from both teams.
