Kaneland snagged a late lead and defeated Morris 13-11 on Wednesday.
The Knights captured the lead in the second inning, scoring on a stolen base during Rachael Hendricks’s at bat. Then Hendricks singled.
Knights scored four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Gabrielle Giannini and Lillie Lindgren, a single by Delaney Sheehan, and an RBI by Emma Bachio.
Sarah Elliott led the Knights to victory in the circle. She went five innings, allowing eight runs, (2 earned), striking out four. Sheehan threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
The Knights collected 12 hits. Elliott, Hendricks, Delaney Douglas, and Lindgren each racked up multiple hits for Knights. Elliott went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Knights in hits. Danyelle Borysiewicz led Knights with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.
