Rose Roach gave DeKalb fits, as she bagged four hits in Kanelands 12-5 victory on Saturday. Roach tripled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.
DeKalb scored three runs in the fourth inning, but The Knights still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for DeKalb came thanks to singles by Mallory Warner and Aubrea Lewis and a groundout by Rylee Levine.
In the first inning, Kaneland got their offense started when Hailey Roach’s sac fly scored one run for Kaneland.
Kaneland scored five runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by Kaneland was led by Lauren Callahan, Roach, Olivia Ortegel, and Emma Bachio, all driving in runs in the inning.
Grace Algrim took the win for Kaneland. She allowed ten hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out eight.
Levine took the loss for DeKalb. She surrendered 12 runs on 17 hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
The Knights launched three home runs on the day. Callahan went yard in the second and sixth innings. Roach had a long ball in the sixth inning.
Kaneland racked up 17 hits on the day. Roach, Bachio, Emilee Erickson, Callahan, Roach, and Danyelle Borysiewicz each collected multiple hits for the Knights. Roach went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Kaneland.
DeKalb totaled ten hits. Lewis, Warner, and Amanda DeBeau each racked up multiple hits for DeKalb.
